The Bob McIntyre Memorial Classic Races, held at East Fortune, just outside Edinburgh is not just a tribute to the Scottish born legendary motorcycle racer who was the first rider to average over 100mph on the Isle of Man, but a festival for all classic bikes and racers across the world. This premier event is cherished amongst the racing fraternity, and offers the chance to see spectacular racing and parading on the bikes of yesterday.

Robert (Bob) MacGregor McIntyre was born on 28 November 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland, and was a legendary Scottish motorcycle racer. He is best remembered for being the first rider to average over 100 mph on a lap of the Snaefell Mountain Course during the 1957 Isle of Man TT—a milestone in motorcycle racing history. He recorded a lap speed of 101.03 mph, a feat likened to breaking the four-minute mile in athletics. He achieved three wins, becoming a TT icon before his racing career was cut short when his life was taken at an event at Oulton Park in August 1962.

The Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club, established by Bill & Agnes Cadger in 1983, aims to remember the classic bikes and runs various events from trials. scrambles and road racing. The Bob McIntyre is a key event in their annual calendar and brings joy to thousands who attend.
